I have had the mirena now for 2 1/2 months. I did have one period already but am due for my other one now. I think i'm actually late. I also had tons of spotting at the beggining but none now. I am just wondering if my period is gone now. I know that it can prevent you from having a period but from what i've heard it seems to take most women months for that to happen. Is it possible for me to be skipping periods so soon. And those of you with no periods, do you end up still having cramps?? I get nervous about possibly being preg. and not knowing it, but i know the odds are very slim on that. Just really scared bc i have had two unplanned pregs already, but i love my boys dearly.

It took my periods a full year to get to where I was spotting instead of just having a full blown period when I had the mirena.I had it for about 3 years or so.I had cramps for a while.Nothing awful but ibuprofen helped.Sometimes I did get cramps around that time of the month even when I didn't get a period.

Hi Shannon,

I've had the Mirena IUD for 10 months. I still get my period, but it only lasts about three days and I only need a pantiliner.

I can tell you that my period definately has not been like clock-work. One

Hi there!

I got my Mirena in August. Had about two weeks of spotting after it was inserted and then have had nothing since. My doc said that while it takes most women up to a year to stop having their periods, some of her patients have stopped having their periods right away and that it's nothing to be concerned about. She recommended taking an HPT if I was nervous and I'm thinking about it but I'm not terribly worried.

I have always had heavy periods and am THRILLED to not be having one at all. It's like a miracle!

Good luck!
