I am 29 weeks pregnant with my first baby and was wondering what kind of birth control that anyone has used after baby that has been effective. I am planning on breastfeeding and we are planning on trying to get pregnant again in about a year and a half. Depo is not an option for us because it hurt me in the past. I'm about out of options here. HELP!

I was on the mini pill for 2 years after I had my son. (For the entire 2 years I didn't get my period either, nice bonus! lol) My doctor had actually put me on the regular pill, OrthoTriCylen, but after doing some research on the internet I decided I wanted to be

sounds like a good question to bring up at the next ob appointment....but from my experience there are a few "mini pills" that you can take while breastfeeding.Micronor's one I think.I took it for 8months after my son was born (couldn't breast feed though)....As long as you take it correctly it is effective as birth control while bfing....There's the IUD....Again,might want to bring it up at your next ob visit...good luck!!!!

When you get your IUD I hope you will keep us posted on how your insertion goes and how you like it.

Just wanted to wish you luck and send congrats on your new baby! I am still breastfeeding my 6 month old, and I use depo. I’m looking to switch but dh is adamantly opposed to IUD.
I hope it works well for you!

Thanks. I can't use depo because it hurt me. It made my bones ache constantly, my hair fell out, I gained 30 pounds, and I was throwing up all the time. After I got off of it everything stopped.

I really hope you love the IUD. I have one or two more depo shots before I finish> I'm really hoping that implanon is available in the spring but if it isn't I'll probably try nuvaring.
Good luck with the baby> I'm excited for you.
