Hello everybody,

I just got off Depo Shot and started Loestrin 24 Fe. Anyone had any problems with it? What common side effect are you girls having with this new birth control?

Hi. I have been on Loestrin 24 Fe for several months now. I wrote great reviews of it earlier, and need to tretract all that now. Of course, I can only tell you how it's affectged ME, but it's wsorth sharing. I haven't enjoyed sex at all since I started it. It stings. It feels like I have a permanent yeast infection, with no yeast to be found. I am itchy and uncomfortable. After several tries with some medication, I will be switching once this pack of pills is finished.
Also, just over the past few weeks, I have noticed extreme breast somreness. walking up and down the stairs actually hurts them, as does laying on my side. this is new, and I don't know if it's due to the loestrin, but I will say I am looking forward to switching
I wish you luck and I really hope it owrks out better for you than me.

I just started Loestrin FE this week after three months on Yaz. I haven't been on it long enough to say too much although I have noticed that I haven't had the breast tenderness I had on Yaz after a week's worth of pills. With the other pill, my breasts would be incredibly sore even after only a few days. We'll see what happens in the future, but so far so good. No nausea or spotting either.

For the record, (in case other people are searching for the right pill) I liked Yaz but the doctor switched me because it was causing a lot of leg cramping.

Everyone is different, so I guess there's a lot of trial and error.

Good luck!

Oh no. the reason i am switching from loestrin is not due to the breast tenderness, because that just started- but it is really painful. but the pill i am switching to is yaz. i did have problems with that on yasminm it was the reason i went off it in fact, but the dr still said give yaz a try- i am a fan of the 24/4 regimen. i am worried now. and so frustrated with all bcp's.
just venting a little.
thanks

It's possible that you're not getting enough estrogen.

Loestrin 24 is just new packaging of a pill that has been around for a long time.

Hi Judie. The pill the dr. gave me to switch to is yaz. also low estrogen. is that a bad plan? i asked him if it might be an ok choice simply because i like the 24/4. he didn't seem to sonsider the estrogen, he seems to think it's all in my head anyway. is it worth a shot or should i ask for something with more estrogen?
also yasmin gave me breast soreness. will yaz do the same thing? this is all so frustrating.
i haven't been treating with yeast infection creams- not after the forst try back in june, but he has me on diflucan-which does seem to make me feel better for a while. i don't know why.
thanks

Don't fret! I completely sympathize about finding the right pill being frustrating. I think most people don't have problems with most pills. If everything is OK, then folks aren't as motivated to post whereas others might be more inclined to write about something that's a problem. I really liked Yaz and would have tolerated the cramping if my doc hadn't been concerned. I'm sure you'll do fine. Hang in there!

When you consider the estrogen in a pill, you also have to consider what progestin is paired with it and how much.
