Hello Ladies,

This is a follow up. I have not visited for a few weeks. I am the 41 year old who tried to start BC for the first time in well over 10 years. The last I wrote, I stopped the pill suddenly after only taking it for 4 days. I could barely walk in the evening while on the pill. I got a super heavy peiod after only being on the pill for 4 days. By the 6th day I still had a heavy period and huge clots. It was pretty scary. I was in the middle of switching Dr and so I was waiting for my 1st appointment. Well I called my soon to be old Drs office. I told them what was going on with me and they told me to get to the office immediately. I had my insurance company switch me back to my old Dr as I drove to the Dr's office. They immediately gave me a shot of progesterone. My arm hurt like crazy for two days. I'm not kidding. But, the period did stop. I also experinced a horrible back pain. I have been taking progesterone for 20 days in addition to my shot. I have one more pill to take tomorrow. Once the shot wore off, I started feeling like myself again. I didn't experince any side effects. No spotting. Nothing. I am starting to get my period. Some brown spotting. I know that taking the progesterone was a band aid. But, it really did stop the period and once that initial shot wore off I was back to new.

Ladies we must remember that the pill does have side effects. I am an example of someone who is prone to actually experience side effects. Please be careful about what you try to tolerate as you try any form of birth control. Call your Dr immedialtely if you experience soreness in your legs and heavy bleeding and clotting. I am not an expert. But, my Dr's nurse was extremely concerned when I called her and told her what I was enduring.

I am still considering having my tubes tied. But, before I do that I will get to the bottom of my issue of having periods so heavy that I've started to experience anemia. My Dr says that I have fibroids. Which so many women seem to have. I will have a vaginal ultrasound after this current period is over.

Thank you again to all of the Dear women who offered me some amazing support as I went through my ordeal.
