Q about depo and pregnancy tests

Hi! I'm new here and just had a question. I started depo provera about a month ago, and so far all is good. They drew blood and did a pregnancy test before they gave me my shot, but for whatever reason I still have these weird feelings about being pregnant. I know it's pretty illogical, but something just doesn't feel right. I would feel alot better even if I just took a home pregnancy test, so... my question is, being on the shot, will an at home pg test be accurate? I'm not sure really what hormones are in depo so I don't know if they will affect results or not.

Hi catlyn624,

Chances are that you are experiencing some side effects from the depo shot.

My doctor didn't give me a pregnancy test when I got my first shot nor when I got my second shot. About two weeks after my second shot I was 100% positive I was pregnant, so sure I even told my boyfriend that I thought I was. I had all the symptoms, mood swings, morning sickness, frequent urination, headaches, back pain, all of it. I took an HPT and it was negative. I took another two weeks later and still negative. Eventually the symptoms subsided. I also go through every single stage of PMS while on the shot but never actually bleed. Hope this helps!

I felt worse on the depo shot than when I was actually pregnant. I was nauseous, I was eating more, I had sore boobs, I had almost all of the symptoms of pregnancy but I wasnt. I went off of the shot because I didnt like the way it made me feel.

What was it like coming off the shot? I've been considering it and my next one is coming up on Dec. 18th. I've been bleeding around the last 20 days of every shot and it gets really frustrating, plus all the ways it makes me feel is just awful. But was it hard to adjust not having the shot, emotionally and menstrually?
