first week of Ortho-Cyclen

I started taking Ortho-Cyclen last Tuesday, which was the first day of my period. I understand that some breakthrough bleeding is possible, but my periods usually last 5 days or so. But this one just won't stop! I took this about 8 years ago for 4 years then stopped and never had breakthrough bleeding or anything out of the ordinary for me. I'm sure this is normal for the first month, but I guess I just wanted someone else's opinion. Is the fact that I am still bleeding (enough for regular tampons) okay? I have taken 7 pills so far, I take them at night. I also seem to be having a nice bout of stomach issues. I wouldn't say diarrhea, but definitely looser than usual. Is that a side effect?

thanks

Extended bleeding when you first start a pill, even if it's never happened before with the same pill, can happen.

Thanks. I just hope it ends soon. It's like I think it's over and then... nope. I also want to rip everybody's heads off just for looking at me wrong. Maybe in a week or two I'll be settled down. My BF is like just stop taking them if it's doing all of this. It'll get better and if it doesn't, I'll try something else. But these worked so well before we just decided to use them again.

thanks

Hi! I just started Ortho Cyclen (Mono Nessa- generic) maybe two months or so ago. I switched to it because my gyn said it would help with my mood swings. I really can not tell that much a difference in my moods. My husband said sometimes he thinks he notices a good difference in my moods. Did you find your moods to be better while on this pill? I'm trying to skip my period (first time trying this) and I did fine the first month skipping but now for the past three weeks or so I've been bleeding. I know I have to get used to the new pill. You aren't alone with break through bleeding...going through it too right now!

It's been so long since I've taken them I can't remember what my moods were like. But right now I want to tear everyone's heads off. People get on my nerves so easily. I'm trying to breathe and calm it down. I'm not a hostile person and I don't usually get ill very quickly at all, so I know it's the pills, well am pretty sure anyway. I know that I didn't have breakthrough bleeding before, I kept expecting to because it's so common, but I didn't. So when this period didn't stop I wasn't sure what was up. I can't remember when I first took them if that first one was longer or not, but I think I did Sunday start back then. I thought maybe I had started taking them too early or something this time when AF didn't stop.

I did skip a period for my wedding, well I was supposed to. I ended up getting it backwards and so I had my period on my honeymoon. Ooopsie. It worked okay for me other than me getting mixed up. I didn't have problems, but I was afraid I'd be bloated or something. That was back when I took them the first time, 8 years ago or so.

The way you described your moods is the way I felt while on Apri (generic for Orho Cept). My gyn reccomended I switch to Orth Cyclen. Please let me know if your moods improve- I'd be very interested. I hope they do and that things get better for you.
