How much do u pay for Birth Control..

I started taking Estro-Step for my acne. My doctor gave me samples and after those ran out I went to get it filled and it was 52.00 a pack. Way to much I think. So, I went back to my doctor and she switch me to Yasmin. It is 42.00 a pack. I have called my insurance company for a list of what they cover but they said they don't have any of that information. I seem to be paying the highest for mine of all my friends. I was wondering how much yall pay and what birth control is it.

Hi babiblue23, Welcome!
Jill
I pay almost $49 for Nuvaring at an Osco pharmacy.
I was using depo. It was $50 every 3 months. Now I’m using Nuvaring. I got 3 months free samples from my doc, and there was a coupon in the starter pack for one month free, so that is 4 rings free! After that it will be $25/month if I buy it at a local pharmacy, or we have a prescription mail order plan that we can get 3 months for the price of 2, so I will pay $50 for 3 months. I agree that your costs seem high.
Does your insurance have a website that you could check to see their prescription list, or is there an agent who could help you? Our HR department at work helps us and we also have a rep through the insurance company who helps us.
Good luck!

All I can say is, when I was on birth control, I was glad that we have a fairly good public health system here in New Zealand.
When I was on the pill, I got an Ortho-Cyclen generic (Mononessa) on drugstore.com for around $22 plus shipping. They let you order months at a time, get a discount, and pay the same shipping cost. It is a U.S. pharmacy, so safe in my opinion.
The first pack I got paying cash at the pharmacy was over $30 if I remember.
I'd check with your insurance to see what they cover--most providers have a drug list online now, or you can call. My copay for generic pills was $15, but I didn't want my parents finding out.
Now I have an IUD and it was about $450 with exams and insertion. But, hopefully 10 years of protection.
