I was just given a prescription for Macrobid that I should take after each act of intercourse. Will that effect the pill? I asked the doctor and he said no.
So I'm not sure now. From what I've been reading, it does. So what is the point of taking the pill if I have to use back up forever now?

Part of me doesn't want to fill the prescription because I was doing so well since August, (the last time I had a UTI).
But for the last two weeks I haven't been so thorough about drinking water and cranberry juice, and then I got a UTI on Saturday. So I think I can prevent it from happening.

I don't know, maybe it's easier being celibate.....sigh....

I'd put a call into the pharmacy that filled it for me....I'm currently taking antibiotics for some dental surgery I had done last week and my medicine had a little sticker on the side that said it might affect the effectiveness of birth control.((HUGS)) good luck

Antibiotics are difficult because they haven't been able to PROVE that they decrease the effectiveness of the pill, but there are cases of women who have gotten pregnant while taking antibiotics and the pill at the same time.
