And probably a little bit stupid too. I used to only use condoms. Then I started taking the pill. Having had a pregnancy scare (I used Preven - I believe that's off the market now but it worked, thankfully!) I now use both condoms and the pill. What are the odds of birth control failure (or of getting pregnant) with this much protection.

Thanks!

If you're using the pill AND condoms, the risk of getting pregnant is really low. If the condom breaks for some reason, you have the back up of the pill. Tons of women take the pill as their only method of birth control and the success rate of that is very high. Planned Parenthood says w/ perfect use, fewer than 1 will become pregnant out of 100 women. As long as you take your pill everyday and around the same time, give or take 2 hours, you should be well protected.

nothing's 100%....but if you take the pill correctly (not forgetting any or taking it LATER than usual) and always use condoms too I'd say you're pretty much protected.....

I took BCP for 4 years. I was with the same partner the whole time, and now he's my husband. I never used condoms will on the BCP, and I didn't get pregnant. If you do use both, I would guess your chances of getting pregnant are pretty much zero. I don't think it's a crazy question. :)
