When to stop my pills... ?

Ok... so my tubal is scheduled for December 15th. This will be during the 2nd week of pills in my next pack.
Do I stop immediately, since the tubal is effective as soon as it's done?
Should I keep taking them for the 3rd week to avoid the possibility of an early period?
I suppose an early period wouldn't really matter much... my system will probably be all out of whack off the pill anyway...
If anyone has any suggestions I'd be happy to hear them...

You might not even get your period if you go off the pills now, I would wait to go off them right before the surgery because I wouldn't want to deal with a period right after the tubal but ask your doctor what she recommends.
I took my BC for 4 months after my tubal just because my pills regulated my periods and stopped them completly. I went off my BC about 2 months ago and just got my first period in 7 years. I am happy to be off the BC because it really messed with my libido and decided that was more important to me than not having a period. I love being off the pill and I am so happy with my decision of having the tubal done and don't regret it. I did have complications of the doctor grazing my bowel and I did have to be stiched up and had a extra incision almost like a c-section but I did fine and am very happy! Good luck with your surgery and keep us posted.
Thanks for the reply.
Low libido is one of a long list of problems I am currently having that I'm hoping are caused by the pill and will go away when I stop taking them.
I won't actually see my doctor again until surgery day, and their office is SO busy (apparently he's the best baby-delivering doctor on the planet, if you listen to the women in his waiting room) that it's hard to get through on the phone to ask questions.
I will probably just go ahead and take the whole pack next month and start the new year pill-free. That will mean taking them for 1 week after the surgery, but what's another week when I've been taking them 17 years already...?
Hi Melissa,
Jill
I have the pre-op instruction list and it doesn't say anything about birth control pills. It says not to take anything that contains aspirin or any herbal products for 2 weeks before surgery.
I guess when I finish the pack I am taking now, I will give them a call and find out. If they are going to want me to stop taking them before the surgery I might as well just not pick up the next prescription and save myself a few dollars...
If they don't say I should stop taking them, then I will go with my original plan and take them for 1 more month.
You can just take your pills right up until your surgery if you want and then stop. My doctor said I could just continue my pills since I wanted to regulate my periods. I am so happy I stopped because my libido is back and I am feeling fine without the BC. I was on the pill for 16 years and enjoying the time now not having to take them. Good luck again with the tubal and getting your libido back.
