IUD and thinking might be pregnant

I had an IUD put in over a year ago ater my youngest son was born and I had heavy bleeding for a couple months after I had it put in but the bleeding and spotting has stopped. I recently started feeling just not right. I am a type 2 diabetic and have been able to keep my sugars under 200, but this week almost all of them have been over 180 and I can't figure out why. My breasts seem to fit in a bra that was too big last month. When I wake up in the morning I am gagging for no reason and the last time that happened was when I was pregnant. My fiance and I had tacos last night for supper and for some reason the smell of the one he had upset my stomach. I have also been having headaches for no reason. I know it is possible to get pregnant with an IUD and I did a home test a couple weeks ago but it was negative. I am scared to go to the doctor to find out for sure because I am not sure about having another child right now. We talked about having more kids but not until after we were married and I was done with school and had a job. I just dont know what to do.

I was wondering if you all could give me some advice on what type of birth control would be better. I was on the pill as a teen and since I have depression the pill messed with my hormones and made me a major bitch. I was on depo for a few months but I got so sick from it, it made me feel worse than being pregnant. I have an IUD right now and I want it out because I am paranoid with it because I dont get my period and therefore cant track my cycle. Are there any other forms of birth control that would be good? I hate condoms but if I have to use them I will because I already have 2 boys under the age of 5 and I want to finish my schooling before I have another baby.

I have to have something with a hormone in it because my periods are so painful and heavy that I was on the floor crying for the first day. I will most likely ask my doctor about the newer pills out there that might work because the ring doesnt seem right for me. thank you for your help. I prefer to have my period back so I can track my cycle with a program I have and that way if I decide I want to have another baby we can plan it better.

I think most healthy women with diabetes can use combined contraceptives (like NuvaRing and Yaz) without them affecting their blood glucose levels but that is something you will need to discuss with your doctor. If your doctor isn’t comfortable with you on a combined pill and Mirena isn’t contributing to your higher blood sugar readings you might want to reconsider your desire to have Mirena removed.

my endocrinologist feels that my thyroid medication was the reason my sugar levels were off. I really want my IUD removed so I can keep track of my cycles and I dont think they will have a problem putting me on a pill.

It is possible, it happened to me when I was using an IUD (Paragard). I went to the doctor because of some sharp pains I was having and since I had an IUD that made me nervous. I was shocked when my pregnancy test came back positive. I ended up miscarrying soon after though and had my IUD removed a little later.
