A Little Concerned

Hi everyone :) I know there is a very similar post to this and I apologize, but my question is a little different.

I took BC from August 05 until August 06 when I ran out.. then I started to take them again in October (when I was finally able to get some!). I started the pack the day after my period since it started on a Saturday which was 10/22. I used back up with the BC for all of October, but after I finished all of my active pills and was on my 2nd or 3rd day of my sugar pills, I didn't use backup.

I wasn't really worried but I did not get my period this week and I start my new pack tonight. I was just wondering, is this possible that its just because I started BC again after a few months of not doing it? Its the same kind that I used in the past, but I did start it only one day after my period started so I realized there may be a possibility that my period still hasn't adjusted.

I know this is my own fault for not being as responsible and logical as I should've been but I thought I'd get some other opinions. I'm really not too worried, but at the same time if I did conceive a part of me would hate to wait an entire month until my next period to find out.

I tried to look at the FAQ's and see if its common for periods to be delayed a little, I know it happens when you first start the pills but I'm wondering if its even more likely if you had to start the pill the Sunday that you have your period as opposed to the following Sunday. All previous times of taking new pills I dont recall my period being delayed, but I always started the following Sunday (so my period was finished instead of interrupted).

I hope this makes sense, and any advice or whatever would be great.

Thanks for the response! ;) Yes, I am still on Ortho-Novum 1/35 luckily.

I guess I just felt silly because I'm usually very cautious about all of this (despite being on BC and always taking it on time, I usually still use backup) and I was afraid I'd have my world turned upside down just because one night I was over-excitedly passionate :P

I thought about waiting to see if I missed a second period, it seemed most logical to me but I wasn't sure if being so calm about this was my way of "freaking out" as in I was just avoiding what I really should be doing because I was too afraid to admit I might've made a mistake. I'm pretty new to the whole sex and birth control area and I wasn't sure how I'd react to possible pregnancy, because I've never put myself in that position before, though I have done a lot of research and understand that too much stress could cause even more signs for alarm than needed.

I guess the fact that I did have menstrual type cramps for the week prior to my placebo week (like normal) and a little bit into the week may be a sign also, that it was just AF adjusting to the pills. I've been sick lately (no throwing up or diarrhea or antibiotics so no worries there) too so I guess that made me a little on the alert side.

Again thank you for calming my fears, I will learn from this and still be cautious and keep an outlook but now I'm more aware of the proper actions to take during the first month back on pills - which is helpful since around here its very hard to get them through the health centers.

:) I love this board!
