nuvaring/no orgasm/now what?

HI...i am considering going on something because my skin is horrendous and my periods are screwed up and my emotions are too. When I was on OrthoEvra I gained a ton of weight but my sex drive was through the roof. Anyway, on Nuvaring, I actually lose 5 lbs and have a great attitude/sense of well being, but NO SEX DRIVE AND NO ORGASM ...I tried Lo/estrin for a month and had horrible vag. dryness and no increased appetite..so otehr than the sex drive problems, I liked actually I loved nuvaring. Does anyone have suggestions? I say this because the doctor is not helpful at all and he usually asks ME for direction. I have a tendency to gain weight on the pill but like I said, w/nuva ring it was great..also i had al ot of energy. (well i had a lot of energy on the patch too..but the weight gain was insane, and harder to lose than any other pill I had ever been on..bad saddlebags developed!). Thanks..oh i am 31 and never had problems w/weight either unless i was on the pill so I know its not just all in my head. It tends to drive my appetite and cravings for starches through the roof is the problem. Thx in advance.

OMG thanks! I will actually try that. I had no idea they had one out that was low. I am assuming its monophasic right? But isn't the progesterone really strong in it then? It seems the progesterone component of the Mirena and Nuva ring took away my orgasms. Thanks! I thought a lot of people had probs on Yasmin, but it is good that they have a lower estrogen dose one out. I am in North Carolina now, I am suprised you always remember me but I am always over here w/a new problem, huh! hahaha. Like I said thought, nuvaring was the BEST except for the O problem. Dang it! I was on Loestrin but it made me really dry...do you have any experience w/that problem diminishing after a few months or does it pretty much stay the same or get worse the longer you are on a pill that does that? Thanks! The dr. at the ob clinic said she usually starts people on Lo/Ovral and that most women tolerate that one well. I know there are no easy answers. Maybe if someone really liked Nuvaring, and they also liked a similar BCP, then that would be one for me to try.

Yasmin and Yaz are both monophasic pills and use a very different progestin, drospirenone,

thanks i have an appt. in december. I did a lot of research on askapatient.com and ovcon35 had REALLY good reviews both for no weight gain and also good sex drive/clear skin. I might try that one or Yaz, or Alesse though levnorgestrel seems to make me gain weight.

Hi Same,

I was on yasmin and LOVED it, I had to stop taking it as my insurance didn't cover it and it's through the roof expensive :(

I then tried Alesse--for me, it was horrendous. I had horrible mood swings, I had my period randomly through the months, sometimes 2 or even 3 times (and I don't mean just spotting...full blown periods) and it actually got to the point where I was scared because I wouldn't stop bleeding.

I hope Yaz or Yasmin works for you...I just thought I'd share about my experience with Alesse.

Best of luck!

Sara
