Loestrin 24 Fe Question

Hello,

My doctor put me on Loestrin 24 Fe this past month because of problems I was having after being on Mircette for over a year. I have been on Loestrin 24 for the entire month, have three more pills to take and have totally lost my libido. DH has also said I have been very cranky. Has anyone else have this happen? I am so ready to go off the pill completely and use condoms. This is really affecting my marriage. Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi laurabee24,

Loss of libido is a common side effect of the pill.

I do know that loss of libido is a side effect of bcp, but I have never experienced this before. I have been on bcp for the last 14 years.

I do not want to try an IUD, it is just something I am not comfortable with having in me.

As far as using a diaphragm or cap, I am allergic to spermicide, so those probably won't work for me either, along with the fact that I have had three children.

I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this on Loestrin.

Thank you for your information and help.

Jill,

The problem I had with Mircette was that after being on it for about a year and a half, I started bleeding really, really heavy mid-cycle. Before that happened, my periods just got longer and heavier (went from three light days to six heavy days). My doctor thought that maybe my body just got used to Mircette, she said that sometimes happens.

My friend gave my some Arbonne's Phyto Prolief to try, saying it is a progesterone cream that you use and could help my libido and bleeding problems. I am not sure whether that could be used while taking the pill and if it would work.

I am just fed up with my doctor for one and this pill, second. I know I should give it three cycles, but this is frustrating!

Thanks, Jill.

I would definitely talk to your doctor about the progesterone cream before you try it, as it may not be the right thing for you.

I took LoestrinFE for a month and I was so dry I don't think I could have even had sex if i wanted to. So that didnt' last too long for me. Yeah the libido went away too but atleast not my orgasm. Other than the dryness I would have stuck w/it. But that is too much.
