Spotting?Do I need stronger pill?

Hi all. I have a concern. I have been on Logynon(Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo) for about 2 1/2 years now and haven't had any problems until now. On day 14 in the pack I started getting a brownish discharge which I wondered if was spotting. That has continued for the past 5 days. I'm worried about this. I will finish the pack of pills this week and get my period on Monday. During the month I also had some sore nipples for a few days. At times I was also feeling a little crampy. I'm wondering if I need to switch to a higher level of hormones. Has this ever happened to anyone before and should I be worried? I am 22 now does age affect the dosage of the pills. Thanks

Age doesn't directly correlate to what pill you should be taking, but some women who have been on one pill for a while will need to switch to something else because of a situation like yours.

The first thing to think of is if you've taken any pills late or missed any this cycle.

I, too, started experiencing some spotting after a while of being on the pill. There are a few things you should check before getting a higher dosage. Are you taking the pill at the same time every day? Once I started to take it almost exactly on the hour, I found the spotting stopped. Do you skip your period often? I did this a lot and found myself spotting regularly after a while.
You could also try going on regular tri-cyclen. I don't get any side effects on it. You may need something a bit higher.

Thanks for all your help. Now that I think about it I usually take my pill at 6am and on Saturday I didn't take it until 9 or so then on Sunday I didn't take it until 8 or so. I didn't have any spotting today so maybe all is well. At least I know that I'm not alone. Thanks
