Seasonale and the generic Jolessa are a great choice for birth control. You only get 4 periods a year and it is amazing. I love it. I highly recommend this type of method for birth control. It is very effective.

I have taken both Seasonale and Jolessa. Jolessa is the generic birth control to Seasonale. They both work wonderfully. I have been taking them for 8 months. I started taking Jolessa because it was cheaper than seasonale.

I bleed for 12 weeks straight when I started Seasonale. 2-3 pads per day. Sometimes heavier. I finally let myself have a period, which was HORRIBLE BTW, and haven't bled since (been about 8 weeks). It's great because there is no PMS at all. The problem with this pill is that it's soooo sensitive and if I skip one pill or even take it 12 hours late, I'll bleed.

I am terrified of having another period and my gyn says to simply take it continuously. It was the worst period I've had in my entire life. And I've had bad ones (it's one of the reasons I went on BCP). It felt like my organs were infected and swollen.

It's a great pill once your body gets used to it. I think the mistake I made was doing a Sunday start instead of waiting to start after my period was over. I started the pill the day after I started my period. Next time I will wait till after my period is over with.

good luck to anyone who tries it. It requires patience and persistence and, most of all, taking it ON TIME EVERY DAY.

I'm relieved to hear someone else had extended bleeding when starting Seasonale! That was the reason I signed on to ivillage in the first place...to see if anyone else experienced what I'm going through! I started the pill in August after my period- August and Sept. were fine...minimal breakthrough bleeding for a few days off and on so I was very excited. I started having some breakthrough again in mid-October and it hasn't stopped since!!!! Some days are heavier...some lighter...but every day requires some sort of protection..be it tampons or pads...it's been making me CRAZY!!! My hormones are much better..no p.m.s. (which is the reason I went on the first place!) my gyn. suggested the same thing about just staying on- so...you're saying just stick with it and it gets better? I appreciate any replies! Thanks!

I started Seasonale on Oct 1st. The first month had about 5 days of breakthrough here and there. November had me bleeding here and there for the first two weeks and non-stop for the last two weeks of the month. Dec has been bleeding from the beginning. My doc took me off of it. Three to four days after stopping it, I stopped bleeding. It was the right call for me. I am willing to use condoms for the last few weeks left until my husband gives a clean post-vasectomy sample. I should mention that I bled on every single pill I have tried and there have been about a dozen.......even high estrogen didn't work for me. I was really looking forward to only 4 periods a year, too. :o(

Hi. Well, when I was taking Seasonale through what seemed like a period, I would keep bleeding. When I finally stopped the pill for a week and had a period I haven't bled since. It's been 8 weeks without even a spot. If I start to bleed like a period again, I will stop the pill and let a period happen. Until then I will take the pill continuously, working up to no period EVER....:)!

Good luck.
