period and headaches

Hi,
I had been taking orthonovum 7/28 for about 10yrs without any problems. then after two kids my doc switched me to the Ortho 7/7/7. I started to get headaches around the 2nd/3rd day of periods though not every month, so I didn't correlate it to the pill. Then slowly the headaches got worse every month and no amount of pain killer would help. Finally I decided it must be the pill or the drop in estrogen when I am on placebo and thought that stopping the pill would solve the problem.
But now 8 months later w/o pill, I am still getting headaches on the 3rd day after start of periods though some months are worse than others. the last one I had a sinus headache for three days and the pain went down to my neck/shoulder and then towards the end I had joint pain as well. I just grin and bear it.I have concluded that it must be low estrogen. I am 37 so is it perimenopause yet? I have not gone to doc cuz I did not think they would be helpful. any thoughts?
Thanks for any insight.

Hi
Jill
Another thing that might help, if you were to go back on the pill, might be the pill Mircette.
