Hi, I've been on Seasonale for 1 year now and I LOVE it. I was on the patch before but with the scares I switched back to the pill. I had tried nuva ring, and it was OK but I got lots of yeast infections from it, so I didn't want to go back to that...so I figured why not try Seasonale (fewer periods sounded good to me).
I must be one of the lucky ones, no break thru bleeding at all, and I've adjusted well to it. If i had to complain about Seasonale I would say that I seem to retain more water on it, and suffer from some vaginal dryness at times. Other than that I'm a happy user!
We've had a good number of women come by since Seasonale was released, some of them were happy, some of them were unhappy, much like any other pill on the market.
I see my gyn next month and am gonna have her switch me to seasonale. i currently take necon 1-35 continuously, so sasonale should not be that big of a jump for me(hopefully)
I just started Seasonale three weeks ago. I've never been on the pill at all before, so I have been having spotting/breakthrough bleeding for the past week. I'm going to keep going on it and see if it subsides with time. I'm sure it's just my body adjusting. Otherwise I've had no other problems.
I was on Seasonale for a year. I loved not having my period every month! The reason I went off of it is because I have fibrocystic breasts and it was causing me to have a lot of lumps and breast pain. It did take me a while to get pregnant after going off of it - longer than with previous pregnancies. I really didn't have issues with weight gain or acne - at least not any more problems than normal. HTH!
I haven't used the brand name Seasonale because my insurance doesn't cover it. :( However, when I mentioned to my doctor that I was interested in trying it, she prescribed my current pill (Kariva) which is covered by my insurance, to be taken the same way.
Basically, she prescribed an extra pill pack for every 3rd month so instead of getting 3 packs at a time, I get 4 and I take active pills for 12 weeks and have my period in the 13th week.
I bled my entire first pack of Seasonale. I had a period at week 11 or 12 and haven't had even a spot since. I am almost finished with my 2nd pack. I'm going to keep taking it continuously as my periods are debilitating, even on the pill.
The reason I kept bleeding, I think, is that I started the pill on the 2nd day of my period. That completely screwed up my hormones. Then, I missed one here and there. I was late a few times taking it, too. So, this pack, I have two reminders on my computer and one on my cell phone. Otherwise I would forget.
I love being on Seasonale. All of my PMDD is gone. Every last symptom. And I have no endo symptoms either.
I'm still a bit scared to have a period, though, because the one I had after that first pack was probably the worst I've ever had in my life. But, so far, no signs of a period at all. Yay!!
I have noticed a great improvement in my breast pain. And they seem less lumpy, too. I am taking Accutane and also taking Vit E with it to help with dryness. Vit E has always helped with my lumps so I wonder if it's just the E. Once I'm off Accutane I'll experiment with the Vit E and let you all know.
