PMS & the Pill

Hello all!

I have a question: I am on the pill and have been on for 3 years now. Do women on the pill still get PMS? I think I have this past week (or two) - I've been moody & crabby and it has NOT been fun.

Next question is, if you do still get PMS on the pill, is there a pill that can prevent it or lessen the mood swings, etc.? I would prefer one that is low dose or at the very least not high in progestorone (sp??) - I hear that hormone causes more acne and I do NOT need more acne!!

Thanks for any advice or experience anyone can share!!

Have a great Monday!!
(see what I mean? I started today and I'm nice now...talk to me again in two hours, I'll be a witch!!!)

Veronica :)

Hi

I used to get PMS when I was LOVRAL, a low estrogen BC Pill. When I switched to YAZ I noticed my period was shorter and my PMS was not there. At the PMS/PMMD board, alot of women have switched to YAZ and felt better. It is lower in estrogen than YAZMIN, which I just hated. Hope this helps and you might want to check out the other board on PMS. Lezza

Hi Veronica,
I've been on the pill for six years or so. I do get cramps before my period and can just tell when my period is about to come like I'll feel tender below my stomach and crave certain foods like salty foods and chocolate. As for the moods, I'd say yes then again I've noticed that I seem to always be a grouch. I brought this up with my gyn over the summer and she switched pills for me (now on OrthoCyclen) she also suggested I take a B Complex vitamin since the pill can deplete those vitamins. I have noticed NO change in my moods and am just thinking that this is how I really am... a big grouch lol

Anyway, take care and good luck.
