Hi -

I just had Mirena put in a week ago on Day 1 of my period. I am still bleeding lightly and cramping. I also have back pain. I was hoping because I am still nursing that I would avoid the bleeding problems, but I guess I've not been so lucky (I have a 10 month old - my 4th child, so BC is important ;-)!). I have not felt for the strings because my Dr. doesn't think it's necessary, but I suppose I could (it sounds pretty gross). Any info/experiences that anyone can share would be really great! Thank you!!

Hi there -

I had the Mirena inserted exactly a month ago today. My Dr said to expect about 3 months spotting. I’m still spotting here and there. As far as the strings, I tried to feel for them as soon as I got home. I couldn’t find them for a few days. It seems the procedure causes a bit of swelling. So, after the swelling went down it was easy to find. In fact, they ended up being to long and would poke my DH! When I went back for my Mirena 6 week check up, my Dr trimmed the strings and said I wouldn’t be able to find them anymore, but not to worry because it had settled in OK.

Take Care,
Samantha
