TTC after Mirena Removal

Ok, I had my mirena iud removed on Oct 31, had a real period on nov 21-26. So I was due for my next one on Dec 19. I have not started and taken several HPT all of which were BFN. Has anyone had experience with their cycles changing after removal? Before I had the Mirena inserted, I was like clockwork, every 28 days. So I called my dr, and asked for a blood test. the nurse called me back and said that the doctor said blood test was no more accurate than the HPT. So instead she said to wait a few more days and test with morning urine... blah blah blah. I know this, but i have NO patience. Also, I always thought that the blood test was more accurate than urine test.

my doctor told me that my cycle could take 3-4 months to get back to normal. i had my iud removed on december 6. mine might get back to a normal cycle sooner since i went on a bcp. if you google getting pregnant after iud removal you might find some info.

I might be wrong but from what I remember of what my dr told me and the info packet I read it says that you can TTC immediately after having the IUD removed. But most drs will tell you (after using most forms of bc) that it's good to give your body a few full cycles to get back into a normal rhythm.

Hi there,

You might want to consider charting your cycles so that you can figure out when you are ovulating and aim to have intercourse at the right times, rather than leaving it to chance. With your body trying to readjust after Mirena, your ovulating could be off. Also, your progesterone levels might be screwed up like mine are (and my Mirena was removed back in August). Make sure you take prenatal vitamins, and look into supplements that can help to regulate your hormones like evening primrose oil and Vitex (but stop Vitex as soon as you conceive).
