Looking into Nuvaring

Hello board,
I am trying to find a new method of birth control after being on the depo for a little over four years. I decided on a whim NOT to get my last shot (which was due in October) due to the massive health risks I had been hearing about. I dont care for the pill, and dont like the idea of the patch. I recently saw a few posts on Nuvaring, and went to the website. I was, overall, impressed and think I might give Nuvaring a chance.
I havent had a period since I started the depo, and have been cramping and spotting recently. I have NO insurance (and cannot afford it, even through my employer), and have never had an official doctor. I had been getting my depo shots through the local planned parenthood, but really didnt see them as professional in the way they dealt with their clients/patients. So Im not sure about the pricing for Nuvaring, or where I can get it from. I may return to Planned Parenthood if necessary, but no woman I know had anything good to say about the local office.
Anyone have a ballpark figure for me? Or any ideas as to what my best bets are?

Hi fr0zenemberz, welcome!
Jill
I’m sorry to hear about your difficult financial situation. If I were you, I’d also look at Nuvaring.com and call or email and ask them for advice on getting a low cost prescription filled. I also quit depo in October and am now using Nuvaring. I like it so far. This is my second cycle on it:) My OB/GYN gave me 3 free as a trial and also a coupon for one month free, so I am getting 4 free cycles!
I hope that you are able to obtain it for a low cost and enjoy it as much as I do.
Good luck,
Holly
I'm in the same boat...no insurance. My Nuvarings have been free so far, samples from my ob's office. But they run about $40 here in Michigan. HTH!
