How to stop taking BC Pills?

Hello,

I've been taking Birth control pills for 7 years and am considering stopping. Over the years I have had issues with yeast infections which I believe have been caused by taking the pill. (I never had them previously).

I've just ended a 3 year monogomus relationship and feel now might be a good time while I'm sexually inactive to stop and see if stopping the pill will help end my yeast issues. My main concern is how is my body going to react after I stop taking the pill and when I should stop using it. (I'm assuming till the end of my current pack) Previously my periods were managable so I don't anticipate lots of problems with cramps and pain.

My other concern is once I stop the pill and find that I feel better ( which I'm figuring is going to happen) what would be the best effective birth control to use instead of the pill? Maybe in conjunction with condoms? I'm 26 and the reason I started the pill is because I really want to feel safe that I'm not going to become pregnant until I'm ready. I know that if I don't feel comfortable I'm not really going to enjoy myself physically. The idea of stopping the pill does freak me out a bit but I would really like to see an end my yeast infections etc.

Thanks :)
