Yaz vs. Yasmin
| Mon, 12-25-2006 - 9:16pm |
I've just switched from Yasmin to Yaz - (trying to help the PMS symptons) - I have been breaking out more than usual the past week or so. Anyone else had this problem? This is my first month on Yaz.

Hi ducks,
I am having that problem with yasmin. From my research, yasmin has a higher dose of androgens, which can cause ance, but some people are not effect. Lo-ovral is in the same category (I believe) as yasmin, but has lower doses of androgens. I enjoyed lo-ovral and probably will be heading back to it. I just wanted to see what else was out there... looks like a big mistake for me.
Hope that helps. Have a great day. You can always talk to your doctor about it. Tell them everything you dont want and do want and they should be able to help limited the list and find something to work for you. Good Luck..
Have a great day!

Hi I have been on Yaz for 4 months. The first month I broke out pretty bad. Then it just kind of went away. I think many of the side effects from the progesterone in Yaz go away after about the first 3 months. It takes a little while to get used to it since the progesterone in Yaz is very different from that in other BCPS. It is supposed to be more like women's natural androgen hormopne. I encourage you to stick with it. I had severe PMS. Actually I had PMDD (the severe from of PMS) and all of my symptoms have pretty much gone. I am really pleased with the Yaz :-)

Ducks...
I did a little more research on everything. When switching to Yasmin many people get breaks and other side effects, but after the first 3 cycles most of the side effects diminish. So, if you can hold out a few more cycles you might had some luck.
Have a great day!

Hi tianshi24, welcome!
Jill
Hey there,
I am just finishing up my first month on Yaz (haven't been on BCP for over a year, but breakouts and pms were becoming too much of a problem), and I'm having a bit of breakout, but nothing compared to being off synthetic hormones. Side effects must be different for everyone.
Other side effects I have noticed include: non-existant libido (hah ha...maybe that's the birth "control" part), and huge bbs (I have gained more than a cup size---and being busty already means this is NOT fun! well, DH doesn't mind ;) ). Also my period didn't artst until the 3rd day of the sugar pills, and it is really heavy. But if it only lasts a day or two, I can handle that.
Ducks, have you noticed any other annoying side effects?
I'm giving the pill 4 cycles... then I may be back to temping and charting.
thanks for letting me ramble...

I was on Yasmin for a couple of years and felt great - except for the PMS. So - I switched to YAZ..and now, I'm breaking out, and I just started my period! (4 or 5 days early) I still have 7 regular pills to take! Yikes. I didn't experience too much PMS before this started....so it's hard to tell.

Hey Dancer,
When I spoke to a couple of different doctors they said that were in the same grouping of birth control. I am a bit confused with what they have said and what is out in medical websites. Guess, thats the greatest thing about the medical field no one knows anything.. LOL
Anyway,, I will keep you posted on how things turn out.
Thanks. Have a great new year
Have a great day!

Hi again hon,
Jill
I'm on my third month of Yaz and have also had a few breakouts and have gained about 8 pounds ince I've started it. Not sure if I should wait it out or try a new one.
Also, there are 4 sugar pills but I don't get my period until the third day and then it lingers and everything is very light but it's light for a week. Is this normal?
