Ring Mishap.....

Hi I was just wondering if anyone can help me figure this out. I was supposed to take out my ring on December 31st, 2006. However, with the New Years Eve Hoopla, I totally forgot about it, and took it out the following morning (January 1, 2007 Monday) at 8:00 AM. Is this okay? I got my period a day or two later, and I just inserted the new ring this morning at 7:00 AM (following suit of the 7 days, not trying to screw it up more... arrrgh!) Was I still protected from pregnancy, and am I still protected from pregnancy even though I took the ring out on day 22 instead of day 21? Any help will be appreciated. Hope everyone had a great New Year and holiday season! Thanks!

You should be just fine. I have heard that you can leave the ring in up to one extra week and are fully protected as long as you don’t go more than 7 days ring-free.
Have a wonderful new year!

I used to wear my ring for an extra two days, then put the new one in two days early and shortened my period. I talked to my doctor about it, and she didn't see a problem with it.

You can definitely wear one ring for 28 days.

New to Nuvaring,

Quick question, I realize you can't go more then 7 days ring free just like any other type of hormonal contraceptive but would 30min late inserting count? Should I use another form on bc for another 7 days?

Thanks in advance

If you are 30min late you don't need to use back up for 7 days straight. The maximum that you can be late inserting the ring is 3 hours

Thanks everyone for your reply,

For anyone who is out there thinking about getting the ring here are my experiences. Although this is only my 2nd month on it I LOVE IT. I have had no significant side effects if any at all that I have noticed. My reason for switching to the ring was because I had to get off of the pill for 3 months due to constant spotting and not able to find a pill that worked for me. With the pill I would be horribly depressed for about two weeks when I would first start it and same thing when I had to get off of it. Not to mention the loss of libido which for me was no longer existant.
Although i don't know if the same thing is going to happen with the ring but so far so good. Plus, can't go wrong with only thinking about it once a month rather then everyday right?

Again thanks again for the reply

I don't think that would make that much of a difference. I have done that before and it seems to be as effective. I think the main thing is to keep it as close as possible to that 7 day mark.
