Starting the pill at the wrong time???
| Fri, 01-12-2007 - 2:50pm |
I am 18 years old and I went about a week ago to get birth control pills for the first time. I have never had sex before and neither has my fiance (yes, I'm engaged at 18 lol) My doctor told me to start my first pill within 24 hours of my first period, so yesterday afternoon I had a light brown smudge (which USUALLY means my period will follow in a couple of hours) so I went ahead and took my first pill last night about 10:00. Then I woke up this morning and I STILL just had a very light brown smudge, which is highly unusual for that to last that long without just starting bleeding right almost after that. I'm wondering if I messed up by taking the pill too soon before my "actual" period. The reason she reccomended this start was because she said it was effective immediately and we have our 2 year anniversary together coming up in 2 weeks, now I don't know what I should do. Should I go ahead and still keep taking the pills or what? We will be using condoms also, but we want a almost guaranteed NO chance that we could get pregnant, because we both have just started college with a full scholarships. Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.
