Mirena and PAIN

~Hello
I had the Mirena inserted at the end of June of last year and I loved it after the constant spotting went away. But the last two months I got the most severe menstral cramps ever. This month, I started my spotting on the 2nd and I thought, wow, no cramps. Than the next day I got the most severe cramping ever. It hurt so bad and so deep in the right side of my lower abdomen, it radiated to my right hip bone and down to my right knee. By Saturday the 6th I was still kind of crampy. Not a severe pain, but it lingered kind of dull. Today the 12th I'm not bleeding but I'm cramping in the lower right abdomen again. It kinda hurts my hip bone again. Is this normal? I got really worried about an eptopic pregnancy, but we are really careful. One thought is that maybe the thing moved...? I thought this was supposed to lessen or eliminate my period. Mine aren't heavy but they can go on for a week, before I only had 4 days. I'm really begining to think that life was better before Mirena and maybe I should have it removed. Does this get better? The insertion was really painful (they had to move my cervix) and I don't want to go there unless I really have to.

Thanks for your response. After researching last night I think that the IUD may be expulsing. The strings are really low. Wierd, uh? Has anyone else had this problem? Even though I got my period, I am going to do a pregnancy test just to rule it out. It kind of feels wierd, I wish that I could just pull it out, lol. Thanks again.

I think I remember a few posters saying that they expelled their IUD....It's been a while I think.Maybe one of them will see this and post something for you...Alot of girls say they could feel their strings. My dr cut mine short so I never really had that problem. If it's in "correctly" and where it should be you shouldn't be able to feel it....((HUGS))

Thanks everyone for your input. I haven't gone to Dr. yet, but things are almost back to normal. I will see a Dr. soon though. No pain now, and last weekend I felt different inside. ~it felt different. I think the IUD is still in place. It felt lower and my body (inside) felt different. The opening felt swollen (toward the front. I wonder what that's about?) I only have one partner(3 yrs. now). Isn't it amazing how comfortable I am to just post anything here. lol. I'll repost after I see a Dr., maybe my info can help someone else some day (smiles). Thanks again everyone is sooooo kind here, (((smiles)))!
