Hi. I have been on NuvaRing about 8 months now. Around 5 or 6 months I started noticing a decrease in my libido. before NuvaRing, I was on Depo for over a year and had no problems with it. I know it is horrible for my bones though so I am trying not to go back on it. I wanted to try NFB and a barrier method but my BF is concerned about using a non-hormonal method at this point. So I was considering going on the mini-pill. Is estrogen generally what causes the drop in libido? I have been on other combo bc before (Ortho-Tri-Cyclin and the patch) but only for a few months at a time. I have considered ParaGard but I am terrified of it perforating my uterus. Do you think a mini-pill would effect my libido? Also I read that there is a new one that prevents ovulation. Does anyone know what it is called? Thanks

I had read that Depo is the most likely to make your libido decrease and NuvaRing is the least likely. It seems that I am having the opposite response. Weird. Is there a certain pill that is least likely to cause that? I think I read something about Yasmin? It figures Europe is ahead of us once again!

Everything I am reading is saying loss of libido is caused because birth control blocks the release of testosterone (possibly permantently-great. Funny how our doctors don't give us this info.) So I'm wondering about taking a testosterone replacement or something. Also iVillage's Natural Remedy finder shows Rhodiola rosea as a remedy for ow libido. Anybody have any experience with this or any other natural remedy? I really don't feel like playing roulette with my birth control lol. I have already been on damn near everything!
