Ovulation?

I typically have 30-something cycles even longer since i'm breastfeeding for the last year, i'm just wondering i had my period 12 days ago and was not anticipating ovulation just yet but i'm wondering if i am indeed ovulating today....or is it possible its just left over sperm from yesterday? DH & I have been using condoms but don't when i determine it to be "safe" Is it possible that its just sperm that's nearly the same consistency as cervical fluid near ovulation?

Thanks

Hi tigger7996,

If you want to work out whether or not it's cervical fluid, or sperm, then use your fingers to collect a sample, and put it in a glass of water. If it's sperm, it will dissolve. If it's cervical mucous (and particularly if it's like egg white) it won't dissolve.

Just a question - how are you determining your "safe" days? If you are using the rules of NFP, then you should have known when you were about to ovulate....

i typically do know when i'm *due* to ovulate so i'm completely surprised that it *seems* like i am so close to after my period when generally my cycle runs between 38 days and 46 days right now and has for the past year, i'm a little stunned that it seems like i'm ovulating so soon, and i didn't have any signs of ovulating the day before yesterday...so...i think i'll try your little test out.

Thanks

After breastfeeding for a year, you're hormones are probably starting to settle down, and you may find your cycles start to shorten again, particularly if you're beginning to breastfeed less.

I'm guessing that when you said your period was 12 days prior, that was the end of your period. Even if it wasn't, if you were to ovulate now, that would mean your cycle is coming back into what is considered "normal".

Oh no. I forgot that with me going back to work the past couple of weeks i've been strictly pumping and not nursing Kaitlyn throughout the day would definitely affect my cycle. I completely forgot to take that into consideration...i wonder if that means #2 will be on the way...thanks for your replies

I hope it all works out the way you want. I guess you'll just have to play the waiting game now, huh?
