waiting for period

My doctor and I decided that I should get off the progestin-only mini pill and she told me to take my last pill on Saturday night (Tues night now) and within a couple of days, I should have my period.

Well, its Tuesday and I haven't had my period yet and am getting a bit nervous. Had unprotected sex mid-way in December, but always remembered to take my pills on the dot every day.

I told my doctor this, and asked if I should take a pregnancy test and she said as long as I was taking my pills every day at the same time, I am fine, and do not need one.

Also, I am getting a Mirena IUD inserted tomorrow morning and she said that they generally insert them when the woman is on her period, so that the cervix is more open. But I haven't gotten mine yet.

I guess my general question is usually how long does it take for a person to get their period after stopping progestin-only pills? Is a three day period long enough, or should I not freak out and wait more?

Also, I know my doctor said that inserting an IUD may feel "uncomfortable" but seriously, how bad is it? I'm kind of scared...eek.

Thanks,
Julie

Well, I couldn't stand to wait any more because I was worried sick over it. I took a pregnancy est and it came back negative, so I am happy, and I guess Aunt Flo is just taking her dear, sweet time!!!

Yay yay yay!!

well, I have been hormone free for 6 days and my period STILL isn't here. I took another test (Brand name First Response, 2 tests in a box, if that matters) and it came back negative again. I'm just a very paranoid person. I know the box said these at home tests are 99% accurate, so I should be fine, right? I mean, two neg tests, I can't go wrong? I peed on it for around five seconds, and the answer was almost immediate (no three minute waiting, like it says, maybe one minute). So there's no way I could screw up two tests right?

Plus, I talked to the nurse today and told her it still hadn't come and they rescheduled me again (the third time) on Monday at 1130, if I get my period.

I know my life is kind of stressed right now, I just graduated college and am nervous about the "real world" and haven't received my degree in the mail yet, so I'm worried about that. All this worrying probably isn't good for me either. God, I have never wanted to get Aunt Flo more than I do right now. *sigh*

My body hasn't been off hormones for at least five years, so maybe thats why its taking so long. Micronor really screwed my body up, so this may make a difference. All I know is that I get SLIGHT cramps, then they go away. Last night my lower back ached quite badly that it woke me up. Of course, I got up and checked and it still hadn't started. One thing, though, my breasts aren't sore AT ALL and I always get tender breasts. Who knows anymore..sorry for the rambling and the length of this message...

My last bleed was a very long period from early to mid-December. After that, nothing.

Thanks again for replying,
Julie
