Hi guys, I'm really frustrated and confused right now. I have been on the birth control pill since I was 18 because of bad cramping. I had been using the same brand up until 2 months ago when my new doctor gave me a different prescription (Microgestin-Fe, generic for Loestrin-Fe). Well about a week ago (so about 2 months after starting to use this new pill) I started spotting and it hasn't stopped. Its very weird b/c its kind of clumpy. I'm positive I'm not pregnant b/c I haven't had sex in about 6 months. I have had this Vaginal infection. I went to the doctor in September for it and she gave me antibiotics, which did NOTHING.. I finally had time to go back to a doctor this December (I know I should have gone in sooner but I had no time, full-time student and job!) and I tried to explain to her that the infection didn't cure, that I want to know what's going on, once again, (diff. doctor this time) I got another antibiotic prescription which once again did not stop my infection. I'm gonna make an appointment with the doctor very soon b/c its frustrating me that they keep treating me with the same thing but it doesn't work. I'm also very confident that its not an STD. Once again, no sex in 6 months and my boyfriend and I have only been with one another. I guess I'm just wondering if the spotting is normal for having changed a pill like this or if it could be an effect of this infection. I just can't wait till its fixed, and I'm calling my doctor tomorrow, I just want an opinion of women that may have gone through a similar situation. Its weird b/c I'm spotting in the middle of my cycle! Thanks! - Carolina

Hi there,

Did the doctors take swabs when they gave you the antibiotics?

Another thing--if you're seeing a general practitioner right now, you may want to consider seeing a gynecologist if you can afford one.
