When do I start the pill?
| Sun, 01-28-2007 - 6:01pm |
Hi,
I was referred to this board by a friend on another board. My last period ended either last Sunday night or possibly Monday morning. Unfortunately I don't remember which day.
I'm starting birth control. I have the pills, and my question is can I start taking them tonight (Sunday night)?
Thanks so much!

Thanks so much Jill!
BTW, the type of BC is Yaz:)
Hi again hon, You could have started them last Sunday but you should be fine starting today as long as you use back-up like I said. Yaz is a 24/4 dosing regimen pill, so as Juliet mentioned, your first pill period should occur sometime during the 4 days of your hormone-free placebo interval. Whether Aunt Flo arrives then or not be sure to start the next pack of pills on time. You will need to give Yaz at least 3 cycles so your body has time to adjust to the hormones in the pills.

Thanks Again!!
hey, i have a similar question, except for with a different type of pill and i'm not new to it, i just had to stop for a little while. but the people responding here seemed to know what they were talking about, so here goes;
i've been taking seasonale to regulate my periods, i am sexually active but i don't use birth control as a sole method of contraception. it has been really nice only getting four periods a year, but because of a problem with my insurance i couldn't renew my prescription. i know when starting again i am supposed to wait until the sunday after my period, but i really don't want to have my period, what would happen if i took it before i got my next period? it has been roughly 20 days since my last period so i figure i have probably have ovulated already, so i know starting it early probably would be effective in terms of being a contraceptive, but would it be bad for me not to have a period if i have already ovulated? would i still not get a period?
i just noticed a mistake in my post... it sould say:
"it has been roughly 20 days since my last period so i figure i have probably have ovulated already, so i know starting it early probably would not be effective in terms of being a contraceptive"
