DH and I are really considering having these performed once we have our second child. Two is the magical number we could agree on when it came to having kids. So I was wondering if anyone out there has done this or if your spouse has done it. And if so what was your experience and are you happy with outcome?

Hi rholmes2004, welcome!

Hi,
I had a tubal on December 15th and am very happy with the decision.
Here is my post about my experience the day after: http://messageboards.ivillage.com/iv-bhcontracept/?msg=20850.1

Tomorrow will be 7 weeks since surgery and I am doing fine.
I did have one little problem a few days ago that I posted about in the off topic section when I noticed one of my incisions was bleeding a little. It only lasted that one day and upon further inspection (my boyfriend took a closer look since it was below my navel and I couldn't get a good look at it myself) and apparently one of the sutures had been sticking out of the incision and had come out while I was taking a bath, which caused the scab to come apart from the incision a little early and that was why it was bleeding. 2 days later the scab came off and there is only a slight discoloration there now.
If you have any specific questions for me, feel free to ask...
The doctor didn't say if the yeast infection was related to the surgery or not. He gave me 2 prescriptions that cleared it right up though.
Unfortunately I got another one last month. Which leads me to believe that it wasn't related to the surgery, but perhaps something related to stopping the pill. I rarely had yeast infections while on the pill. I only remember having one two or three times during the almost 17 years I took the pill. Now I've had 2 in 2 months.
Luckily the prescriptions he wrote for me had 1 refill on them so I didn't have to make another trip in to see him.
I am very happy with the decision I had to go ahead with the tubal instead of Essure. Mainly because it was effective immediately. If I had the Essure procedure done I would just now be having the test to see if it "took". The recovery from the surgery was not nearly as bad as I had imagined it would be.
