Hey Everyone!
Im starting BC for the first time as soon as I get my next period. I was wondering how long you have to wait to have sex for the pill to become effective? If I use a condom is it safe to have sex the first few days I start the pill or do I have to wait? Thanks!

There is a little insert that comes with the pills that should have all that information on it. But, I know that with the brand I use (Yasmin 28) it takes 7 days to become effective.

Thanks for your replies. I read the package and that helps abit. It says if I take it within the first 5 days of my cycle I should be protected right away. I have another question though, being a first-timer Im not sure how to decide what time would be good to take it everyday. Are there any common times women like to take it? Any advice on picking a time? If you don't mind me asking what time you chose to take it just b/c I want to pick the best time for me not to forget and any tips/ideas would be great! Thanks again!!

I have an alarm on my cell phone that I can set to go off at the same time everyday, so that way I never forget. The time that I used is 10:30pm, because it is close to bedtime and when I first started the pill it gave me a bit of a stomach ache so I figured if I took right before bed that wouldnt be a problem. But, if there is something that you do at the same time everyday, try to time the pill to that. It might work to plan to take it after dinner, or when you get up in the morning, or anything else that you might do everyday.
