Doctors and IUDs

They say IUDs ARE safe for women who have not had a baby yet( which I haven't). I want to get the copper IUD and I am going to a clinic soon to see if they will give one to me because I can't take artificial hormones( they make me way too sick). I just don't understand why doctors are reluctant to give IUDs to women without kids. I know they are more likely to expel, but I think ppl should still get the opportunity to try one if they fit your needs.

I have been with bf for 5 years and still using a condom. I really wanna step it up to the next level but I just don't know if a doctor will give me an IUD. Do you think it would help if I told him/her that I am in a monogamous relationship for 5 years?

The reason some doctor's won't use and IUD for women who haven't had babies is because of the possibility of uterine rupture.

Talk to your doctor about it, if you are sensitive to hormones they may be able to help you with something that has low hormones in it and would work well for you.
