hi.. i have posted her a couple of times in the past asking questions about birth control. i'm presently not on any and i really would like to change that. i'm just having an incredably difficult time making a decision. I was on the pill a while back. i didnt have any problems with it but since i switched to the nuvaring i dont think i could ever go back. it was so convenient and so much better. unfortunately the hormone dosage wasnt quite enough for me and i had spot bleeding. quite a bit actually and couldnt continue using it. I have been researching alternate methods and really like the idea of the non-hormonal iud. i like that i wont have to worry about changing it for quite a while. i know there are some, very rare possible complications. i heard mention of possible fertility problems. how much of a concern is this if at all? i'm also extremely nervous about the procedure to put it in and the pain after having it in. my periods have obviously been a bit heavier since i stopped with the hormonal birth control but their not particularly painful. i have read tons of articles. i just wanted a bit of input from some real people who have possibly experienced this or have some other advise to offer me.
also, im in a monogamous relationship so stds isnt really a concern for me.
thank you so much for taking the time to read this and any advise would be greatly appreciated.

I was terrified to have my Mirena (hormonal) IUD put in. For me it was only uncomfortable and not painful. I had some cramping and bleeding for the rest of the day too.
I don't have information about the copper IUD though, I just thought I'd let you know that my experience with insertion of one wasn't bad.
