How long have you been on birth control?

Hello all!

I just read in the newspaper that there was a new study linking oral contraceptives with breast cancer risk. It made me a little nervous! It said that those who have been on OC for four years or more increased their risk by over 50%! So I guess I'm looking for more information...what do you all think of this? I believe it was a Kaiser study, but I could be mistaken. Anyway, I know its just one study and others have said otherwise, but I was wondering:

1.How long have you all been on BCP? I'm going on 4 years in July.
2.Do the results of a study like this make you worry about taking BCP and seek alternate routes?

Thanks for any input that might help me feel more at ease.

I started taking the birth control pill when I was 18 years old...I took it until i was ready to have a baby at 30yrs old...(in between those years there were a few times when I wasn't on the pill due to being out of work and no insurance)...I took it again for about a year after having my baby and then went to the IUD...and eventually ended up having a tubal and ablation to help ease my periods.Sometimes reports like that make me wonder how safe any of our medications really are....PERSONALLY I didn't have any breast health issues but did have blood pressure concerns through the years-but partly due to my own genetics and family history...
