depo provera side effects?

I was on the progesteron only pill, cerazette, for about 9 months. In that time, I completely lost my sex drive and had a lot of problems with lubrication, even including not being able to produce saliva.

My doctor has recommended I try the progesteron injection, as I am allergic to latex.

Has anyone experienced similar side effects whilst on the mini pill? And has anyone noticed similar things on the injection?

I don't want to try it and end up having three months' worth of discomfort.

Thanks

I was on the depo shot for a year. The plus side is you don't have to worry about taking the pill every day. I didn't have my period the entire year, but there was spotting. The downside is some weight gain (I put on 8 pounds over the course of one year), and I just felt "off" emotionally - probably due to the hormones. When I went off of it, I got really bad cramps associated with my period.

Hi there.

I completely lost my sex drive on Depo Provera, and had terrible mood swings (among several other big side effects). I don't recommend it. If you have any issues with it, it can take 18 months to 2 years for your body to recover.

i had similar side affects for the depo as the other ladies.

for me is cause lots of lubrication problems, made me moody, gained weight like 10 lbs, made my hair fall out, cause really bad cramps like someone was stabbing me in my stomach, it can cause calcium loss, and if u do get pregnant on depo it can cause birth defects. so i do not recommend it. hope this helps
