I realise that this may not be the place for this post.. But, Since I have been here before, I feel comfortable asking, and getting good advice!!

As in my other post... I had my IUD removed on Feb 5th, and experienced what probably was a "Period" from the 7th to the 10th.. But it was more like spotting.. And MAYBE 2 small clots (Sorry, TMI) smaller than a Dime... And now, 13 days after the start of said period... I feel this slight cramping above my right hip bone... I think I am ovulating.. But my Cycles have NEVER been like this. I went to MymonthlyCycle.com And it said if I was on a 28 day cycle, I should ovulate tomorrow.. But,

#1. I HAVE Never had a 28 day cycle.. (More like 35-? Day!!!) And um, I JUST had my BC removed.. Could I really be ovulating already?? Ugh.. I am soo confused, This is why I Hate being on BC!! I would LOVE to get to know my own body.. But, I am at a loss for finding out How (Where to start?) Ok.. Im dont getting on everyones nerves!!!

Well having an IUD doesn't necessarily stop ovulation, it just stops implantation. So it is possible that you are ovulating at times other then you think you would. The spotting/period could have just been from having the IUD removed.

Just another note too, what feels like ovulation pain doesn't necessarily coincide with ovulation. When I was charting my cycles, I'd have ovulation pain from day 7 through about day 20, and I ovulated on day 16 or 17. Those cycle calculators aren't very accurate, as most of us don't have textbook-perfect cycles of 28 days with ovulation on day 14!

A note on the implantation thing--there have been studies done to see how IUD's work, and it seems more likely that the IUD prevents fertilization by immobilizing sperm. The presence of a foreign body in the uterus creates a hostile environment toward anything that enters it. It wouldn't be ethical to insert fertilized eggs into a uterus to see if the IUD prevented implantation, but when the study was keeping track of women with IUD's, they did not encounter any fertilized eggs passing out of the women's bodies, only unfertilized ones.

Good luck, try to hang in there, this waiting thing is difficult. I found Toni Weschler's book to be an excellent resource for charting my cycles, I'd also recommend it highly.

Hi there,

Once my Mirena was removed, and I'd had the withdrawal bleed, I ovulated about a week or so later (as evidenced by symptoms). However, my ovulation dates have been all over the place since removal, and mine's been out for six months now. Sometimes I have ovulated as early as day 9-10, and sometimes as late as day 15. So it will take a while for your body to settle down, and if you want to know when you are ovulating, you might want to consider charting.

Don't take the risk of having unprotected sex, and assuming that your body isn't correcting itself already.
