Hoping there will be some ladies who have had experince with tis IUD. I have had it 7 weeks now and other than spotting a few days after insertion and my period on schedule 2 weeks in ( I have a 21 day cycle) I have had no bleeding. Today I did spot a bit and think..oh it is my period but it seems only to be a little tiny bit! I thought I would have my period for a few months then it would slowly taper off. I would love it if it was affecting my bleeding so fast!
I am totally loving the freedom of it!
Any other people with this experience?

I had the mirena for a little over 3 years and loved it....my periods took about a year to settle down to just spotting and such...Just before I had it removed to have a tubal done my periods were basicly just spotting for 1-2 days each month.I loved the mirena!!!

I've had my Mirena for two and a half years now. I had it inserted at the very end of my period. My next period was spotting only. I have in fact not needed tampons at all ever since the insertion, so for me the lessening of bleeding was really that immediate.

Yep, I had that experience with Minera as well... having no periods was awesome! :) Unfortunately for me, no periods = weight gain :( But, other than that I LOVED Minera. I hope you keep loving it. Good luck.

I've only had mine for 3 weeks now. I had some spotting the day it was put in. Then I had a break and now I've had a kinda long period for 8 days, but it's more like heavy spotting, just enough to be annoying but not enough for a tampon. I had it put in at my 6 week post partum check so my doctor told me I'd have a really wacky period if I had one because I had so much going on in my body but I'm still happy with it. I hope that once this first wacky one is over I'll be having lighter ones too.

My first and so far only period since insertion was longer and heavier than usual. I was actually on a progesterone only pill for the past 14 years which also gave me very light and infrequent periods and I only went off because I suddenly was having dramatic increased bleeding. I was off that pill for 3 months to be sure nothing was going on with me and then decided to give the IUD a try. I was so spoiled not having a period with my previous BC and it was a pain having "regular" periods while I was waiting to get my IUD.So glad that the less bleeding is kicking in so fast!
