Could the cause of my sore breast be the variating amout of progestin in my BC pill??

Im using Ortho Tricyclen and I have noticed that my breasts get swollen and sore after I start my second week of active pills which have more progestin that those on the first week.

I was thinking about switching to Ortho Cyclen which has the same kind hormones but is a monophasic pill with the same amount of hormones on each pill.

I was also thinking about switchint to Yaz or Yasmin since the progestin in it is suposed to have diuretic properties wich could mean less bloating of the breasts but Im afraid of switching to a different type of hormones.

This is my second month on OTC. The first month was okay. I had no problem until I started my second pack. Im will try to give it four cycles and if I dont feel better I will have to switch pills.

We hear a lot about sore breasts with Ortho Tri Cyclen. Usually it is the estrogen that causes breast tenderness, but it seems like OTC is worse than other pills, like the progestin is also to blame. I took OTC when I was 21, and it wasn't bad, but I had breast tenderness just as bad as I did before I started the pill. When I was 28 I took Ortho Cyclen and I had to sleep with a sports bra on (34C at the time--not big) because if I moved in the night it would wake me up they hurt so much.

That being said, after the first three months, the breast tenderness wasn't as bad. You could also check with your doc about OTC Lo, it has less estrogen, but the same amount of progestin--theoretically it might be better.

Good luck!
