Very Light Periods

Hi...I've been on BC in the past and usually had pretty regular periods during my placebo week. I went off of BC over the summer and have now been back on it for about four months. Instead of taking Ortho-Tri-Cyclen like I did in the past, I'm now taking the generic version of it (it's a lot cheaper) but I've been having some issues with it that I didn't have with Ortho-Tri-Cyclen. I have cramps practically off and on all month and feel extremely bloated all the time. I also have gained some water weight since I've been back on BC (maybe about 5 or 10 pounds and it fluctuates, I'm skinny and it's very noticable). My period the first month was semi-normal (kinda heavy but only lasted three days). But since then every month I've only had a small amount of spotting - and by that I mean pink or red spotting in my discharge. I have a lot of discharge the entire month also...but no spotting unless it's my placebo week. Is this normal? It's just the first time I've ever spotted while on BC and not had regular periods monthly. I take my pills every day around the same time, so I haven't missed any pills or anything. Any info you guys can send my way will be helpful...thanks!

thanks for replying, I can't remember the name of my generic pill off the top of my head...I'll have to look later. I've had trouble in the past of having very light periods or skipping them altogether when I'm under a lot of stress. I have been under stress the past couple months...so that could be a reason too. Do a lot of women have that problem? I have an appointment with my ob/gyn in a couple weeks for my annual exam, so I may talk to him about possibly switching my pills again. And I may take a pregnancy test also, just to be sure. Thanks for you help and advice. :)
