morning after?

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this. I was wondering if anybody knows about the morning after pill. Is it really an abortion pill or just a prevenative, because I usually just use condoms as BC but today it broke on us and now I'm afraid I might get preggers, so I thought about the morning after pill. I went to the pharmacy to see about it and the Pharmascist must believe the pill is abortion and started yelling at me, calling me a whore and a baby killer. So needless to say I started crying and left. I guess I was just wondering if anybody knew about the pill?
Thanks

I can't believe the ignorant pharmacist treated you that way! It's NOT an abortion if there is no fetus. Please don't feel bad and go to another pharmacy and get the pill called "Plan B" and take it as soon as possible - some states don't require a precription. You can read about it at the following website.

good luck

Wow! I have never heard of that happening with a pharmacist. Is this a national chain or a mom & pop independent pharmacist? If it is a national chain, I would definately report it. From my understanding, you can use it up to 72 hours after sex and it should be available at the pharmacy. I can understand have personal beliefs about this issue, but that's where it should end and shouldn't be getting into someone else's business. It's your body and your business what happens and no one should get into your face about it, especially a pharmacist whose job it is to help people no matter what their personal beliefs are. That just ticks me off and it didn't happen even to me. I'm sorry that happened to you. Definately look into complaining if it is a national chain. Hopefully someone can provide more information about the pill for you, but I just wanted to lend you my support. take care!

It was at a national chain, and I think I remember a few months ago on the news that the pharmasist can refuse to sell it to a customer due to beliefs but has to get another employee to sell it, but I was so shaken up by the whole thing I just left. Thanks for the help.

I did a little research, and you are right, they can refuse to sell. This is an article that I found that will clear it up. I can't believe that it is like that.

Thank you for the information. I got the Plan B this morning. I called another store before I went. They were nice about it, It was a better experience, when I called they said all there stores in the area carried it. So I called the place I went to before and asked if they sold it also, the lady said yes but to ask for such-n-such if I came. So I guess I just went at the wrong time. I did go back and talked to the manager about it and the lady apologized, said she was having a bad day, and that a 14yr old was trying to get it without a script and was having other people try to get it for her and she thought I was another recruited person to get it for her. The manager offered to give it to me free but I had already purchased it at another store so he gave me a gift card. So I guess everybody has bad days and said it wouldn't happend again and would deal with it. Thanks again for the info and help

Ya It doesn't seem right that they can do that since it is over the counter product. But I went to another store and got the pills. Thanks for being so helpful. and went to the place I went before and they apologized and said they would deal with the situation. The rest of the story is on the post before this post 21431.8. I think. So hopefully it will work and I won't get preggo.

Yes I agree the pharamsist needs to get some help. I got the impression from the manager and the person that told me not to ask for her when I called, that they have had problems with her, and they were dealing with the problem and was sorry it happened again. the store has not been open that long and I guess she transfered from another store. I don't know what her problem is. I'm young but not too young and not promoting underage sex but I think if a 14 year old came in freaked out after she just had sex I would be nicer to her to try to help her find a doctor to get a script and not yell at suspected recruits. I've just had to many friends end up with baby's before they even graduated High School. But thanks again for all the help and I think I'm going to talk to my doc about getting some kind of BC for daily basis. I just never thought about it because my Periods are never that bad and I've heard that if I don't need the pill I shouldn't get because it could cause other problems is this true?
I'll keep you update about the situation since I waited longer than I should have to get it and I read on the sites you and others gave me about Plan B that it is less affective. So I have my fingers crossed. Thanks Again!
