Hi
Jill
Hi,
I have never used it, but my old housemate did and they got their period for 2 months straight! I also talked to my doctor about it, and they said they would not recommend it because alot of patients had complained of spotting.
Hi
I had an Implanon fitted in October last year. I bled for about 8 weeks solid (was driving me crazy!) but nothing since... No problems (yet, anyway). I do get a lot of early, mild pregnancy symptoms though - am spending a fortune on pregnancy tests so I obviously don't trust the implant yet - sore breasts, metal taste in mouth, extreme tiredness. Occasionally I can feel it, not hurting but just an awareness that it's there. This seems a small price to pay for an easily reversible contraceptive which, my doctor tells me, is 'zero rated' - meaning it NEVER fails... not sure it's been around long enough to make a claim like that, but I am happy with it overall. Don't want to think about how they get it out though.

I just had the implanon implanted in my arm today. I don't have any experience with it yet, other than the insertion. My dr numbed by arm with a shot of lidocaine and I didn't feel anything other than the pressure when he inserted the rod. He said to leave a tight ace bandage on it for 2 days and to snip the suture out in 5. It's been in my arm for about 7 hours now and is just beginning to be a little sore and it is really bruising pretty bad. I feel like it is a small price to pay to have super-effective birth control that I don't have to think about everyday. Here's why I decided on implanon:
a) condoms only are just too risky - I want something RELIABLE;
b) fertility in the future is not impaired by the implant;
c) the implant does not use estrogen (lessens the risk of blood clots);
d) it's cheaper than the pill (over 3 years); and
e) I don't have to rely on myself to remember to take a pill everyay at the same time.
Hi mrsandyjones, welcome!
Jill
I hope that you enjoy this bc.
