pill symptoms or pg?

Hi all.
I was just wondering about a few things. I was reading the side effects for bcp's and it says there that we may experience some breast tenderness, mild bleeding in between cycles, etc. But I think I also read somewhere that these can also be thought of as symptoms of pregnancy. how do you know which is which? should we consider taking a pg test if we are uneasy and just feel "weird"? also, when is the earliest time you can test? Thank yoU!

They can be pregnancy symptoms too. If you're taking your pills correctly (haven't missed any, take them at the same time every day, haven't been on any antibiotics), there really is no reason to worry about being pregnant every cycle.
The soonest you can take a pregnancy test is 5 days before you miss your period but it's not likely to be very accurate if you take it that early. Waiting until you've actually missed a period is better. You'll spend a fortune if you take a pregnancy test each month, or take them too early because you'd have to retest after you missed your period.
I wouldn't ever worry unless you completely miss a period though.

Thanks for the reply!
Well the thing is, I religiously take the pill everyday. I haven't missed a dose yet. I may vary about 5 to 15 mins apart but never longer than that. I did end up getting sick a couple of weeks ago where I had to take antibiotics for a week. That's why I feel a little scared about getting pregnant. My period is supposed to start this week so I can't say that I missed my period. But I am getting so anxious that I just want to know, but at the same time, I want to make sure that I test at the right time so I know it is absolutely accurate. One more reason I want to know right away is that if i DO end up being pregnant, I want to make sure I stop the pill (so I don't make it harmful for the baby).
One more question I have is... what about those other women who end up being pregnant, but still got their periods?? HOw likely is it that stuff like that happens?
Sorry for the paranoia.
That's not that common, I know everyone says they know someone who that happened to but it's actually quite uncommon. I wouldn't sweat it if you get your period. Not all antibiotics interfere with the effectiveness of the pill. You could call the pharmacy and ask them they would know. Any time I had an antibiotic there was a sticker on it if it interfered with the pill.
