Nuva Ring, Sex and Hormones

Hi all, this is my first time ever posting on a message board.
So my boyfriend can feel the Nuva Ring when we're having sex, he says it doesn't really bother him during intercourse but it does when he's bringing me to climax with his hand (sorry is that too much information?). So I know that I can take it out for three hours, but I'm concerned about playing around with my hormone levels. I've been struggling with depression for the past couple of months (doing cognitive behaviour therapy and seem to be on my way out of the darkness) and I'm worried that constantly removing and reinserting the Nuva Ring will cause hormonal fluctuations. Does anyone have any information or experience with this?
More information about me and birth control, just in case it's relevant:
I was on the pill briefly when I was eighteen (but I never remembered to take it and had crazy mood swings, my doctor said I wasn't a good candidate for estrogen). Then I switched to Dep for five years (which I loved! I felt like a super-woman, no period for five years). BUT unfortunately my bone density levels plummeted and I had to switch. Thinking that I would rid myself of hormonal intrusion I had an IUD inserted eight months ago. What a disaster! I had constant irregular bleeding for eight months (karma after all those years being period free?). I went on the Nuva Ring two months ago but just had the IUD taken out on Friday (my doctor wanted to see how I reacted to the Nuva Ring before we took out the IUD).
Anyways, I'm hoping that the Nuva Ring works for me . . . you didn't really need the history of me and birth control, but I thought it would put things in context. Any advice anyone has would be great!
Thanks

Hi Jaylashen, welcome!
Jill
I had the Copper-T (ie. non-hormonal) IUD in. The depression started over the summer, so long before the Nuva Ring went in. I've actually felt a lot better since the Nuva Ring went in, so maybe it has helped stablise my moods???
I'll check with my doctor and let you know what she says, I'm seeing her in about two weeks. But honestly, I feel like my pyschiatrist doesn't know a lot about birth control and that my regular doctor doesn't know that much about depression. They both seem to subscribe to 'wait and see'.
Thanks for the reply,
Jay
