I'm so sick of constantly thinking about birth control! I use to be on Ortho Tri Cyclen, then went to Zovia because the Ortho gave me menstral migraines. I am now on nothing because I just got so fed up, the Zovia still gave me headaches and my sex drive plummeted, not good! (I've also gained about 5 lbs in about 3 months)
I have been told that going off will make me gain weight, I have been told being on different ones will make me gain weight. Please help, I have no clue what to do at this point.
What bc are you on and what have been the pros and cons? I can't stand having no sex drive and the weight gain is not an option! Help.

I chose the Mirena IUD. I had it put in after I had my son, but having children isn't a requirement for it. I like it better then the pill, my libido is much better then when I was on that.
Pluses of the Mirena:
Nothing to remember ever day
Good for 5 years
lighter periods (or none for some women)
good sex drive
localized hormones, so less side effects
Cons:
expensive initial investment if your insurance doesn't cover it, although if you figure it out it ends up being less then the pill over time.
some women find it painful to have inserted (especially those that haven't had kids), but that's temporary.
A lot of women find that being on a pill makes them gain weight, and after they go off it's easier to lose it.
Hi, I wear a diaphragm, cap or menstrual diaphragm on a continious regime and have done since I was 16 year old. I LOVE them all, perfect BC method in my view. It is just part of my usualy daily (or 3 daily) routine. No "cons"... only "pros" in my view.

Unfortunately, with birth control, there is no one-size-fits-all.
I take Yaz for my PMDD... I like the consistent hormones. No water weight gain, no cravings and VERY light cycles.

I'm a 26 year old married woman that has never had children. I've been using the Mirena IUD for a year and three months and absolutely love it!!
Here is what I like about the Mirena IUD:
Hey there,
I was on Ortho-triclyen lo for 2 years. Had problems with constant yeast infections during the last year.
Now I'm on Mircette for 3 months at a time.
Pros:
1 period every 3 months
2. fairly light periods
3. no weight gain
Cons:
1. Can be sort of expensive if u have no insurance
2. have to remember a pill every day (no big deal to me but...)
3. can sometimes get confusing
