I had Mirena put in almost one month ago. I have had a HEAVY period for the past 17 days. I am going to the Dr. in two days to check it out and make sure it is still there. I tried to feel the strings but was uncomfortable doing that with the bleeding. Has this happened to anyone? I feel like I am going to need a blood tranfusion!!!!!! I have never had a period like this. When I called the Dr. they did not seem too concerned but I found this website about class action suits on Mirena- curezone.com- that really is freaking me out!!!!!
Thanks,
Tammy

Hi Tammy,

I did not experience any heavy bleeding in the months following my Mirena insertion. In fact, I had the exact opposite - little discharge or bleeding.

I'd still give it some time. You are only into the first month. I've read it's best to wait it out a good 6 months - then You'll love it!

I've heard that's common also. I didn't have heavy bleeding but I had continuous bleeding for over a month. As long as you can feel the strings it should be in the right place. It's good that you're going to have it checked out but I agree with the PP that you should give it 6 months before you really decide, it can take some women that long to stop spotting.
Of course most people on the net post when they have a problem, not that many bother to post that they love something.
