i start a new pack of my ortho-tri pills on sunday. however, i leave for a retreat on monday-wednesday and i wont be able to have an alarm/cell phone of any kind there, and the time i'm supposed to take my pills is 6am, and i know i wont be able to wake myself up at that time. so i was wondering, can i skip those 3 pills, and then take one on thursday? i'm not going to see my boyfriend til the following friday, so i would have taken 7 active pills in a row by then. will this work? is there any other option? i just don't think i will be able to take my pills this monday-wednesday at a consistent time each day so i dont know if they will be worth taking, but i really dont know how it works becuase i am new to this birth control thing. what should i do?

Well if its the same for all pills- which i'm assuming it is- I have ortho tri-cyclen, and since each pill has different doses, if you miss one you can double up the next day but if you miss MORE THAN TWO, you have to throw away that whole rest of the pack and start a new one. So I wouldnt skip three day if I were you!

Personally I'd still take them as soon as you get up each morning. You might or might not have a little breakthrough bleeding but I would still say it's better then not taking them at all since I heard what the PP said about missing 3 pills and having to toss the pack. Missing 3 pills might bring on your period too.

Hey! The last thing you want to do is skip those three pills. You will probably start your period all over. It would be better to take them when you wake up late than to skip them all together. Taking a pill a couple hours late shouldn't affect you that much. I have taken mine two days late before becuase I forgot. Also, you said that you were new to the whole birth control thing, someone did tell you that it takes a month to kick in right? Just want you to know. I didn't until after a pregnancy scare. Hope this helps!

so if i take a pill at 9am instead of 6am on monday the 2nd, tuesday the 3rd, and wednesday the 4th, and then starting on thursday the 5th take them at my normal time (6am), will i be okay by the next friday, the 13th? will my pills be fully effective by then and do i not have to worry about them not working?
