Hello everyone! I'm new to this board. After TTC last year with no success and recently thinking that I had accidently conceived, starting my period, and being reminded that I have PCOS, I decided at my doctor's appointment today to request BCP. My doctor gave me a sample of Loestrin24, as well as a prescription for this pill. When I returned to work, I did a google search of Loestrin and found a message board where some women had some very horrible things to say about this pill. I'm now a little nervous to start the pill. Is anyone taking or has anyone ever been on Loestrin 24? I've been a member of iVillage for sometime now and value the opinions of those here?

What's the word on Loestrin 24?

TIA!

For the record, I haven't had any trouble with hair growth/loss, my libido is as high as ever, and the irregular bleeding stopped after month 4 or 5. (Although it sucked to suffer through two periods a month for that time.)

The only weirdness now is that I haven't really had a period in two months. I'm not pg, so I guess that's a side effect. I've gotten some bloody discharge but there's not even enough for a panty liner. I also get a tiny bit of bleeding if I take the pill late (like I said before), but even then it's not enough to worry about anymore. If I can wrap my mind around not having a period, I think I'll be OK with this pill. It did take some time, though. Be patient.

I'm also on Loestrin24; on my 2nd cycle. Thus far, the only problem I've had was spotting, but only during the second month (this month.) Though I was also under a lot of stress these past few days, so that could partly account for it, too.

For me Loestrin24 works well; I've had no horrible complications, no weight gain, no water retention, and no crazy mood swings, unlike some other women. Give it a try for 2-3 months. That's always the advice doctors give.

Hope it works for you.
